Get Daily Updates on AARP Issues from the South Dakota Legislature
By: State: South Dakota
The 2009 South Dakota Legislative Session is well under way. AARP South Dakota is there fighting for not only the state's senior population, but all South Dakotans, keeping close watch on health care and consumer issues.
This year it is easier than ever for AARP members in South Dakota, and others who share similar concerns to stay on top of the issues and take action when those issues come to a vote in committees and before the state house and senate. AARP South Dakota associate state director for advocacy, Sam Wilson, is publishing daily legislative updates from Pierre in the “journal” section of the AARP South Dakota Online Community.
From the South Dakota home page just click on the AARP SD Legislative updates under the “online community” heading to read the latest action. As legislators introduce more bills, the updates will list those being tracked by AARP to keep you informed on the progress and potential impact those bills will have if passed in to laws.
We'll be keeping a close eye on budget updates through the coming weeks and will give you as much information as we can through our legislative blog in as timely a manner as possible. And, as members of the legislature introduce more bills, we'll be sure to list those being tracked by AARP so as to keep you informed of the progress and impact of those bills should they pass the Legislature.
As AARP priority bills come before committees and the legislature, we encourage you to use the AARP South Dakota Advocacy hotline, a toll-free direct line to the capitol. By calling 1-800-456-6521 you can get in touch with lawmakers, state agencies and the governor's office to provide input on AARP South Dakota's legislative priorities.
