AARP Seeks Volunteers to Serve on 770 Team

 |

AARP Oklahoma is looking for volunteers in the following Oklahoma counties to join its new 770 team:  Cimaron, Texas, Beaver, Harper, Ellis, Roger Mills, Beckham, Greer, Harmon, Dewey, Tillman, Cotton, Jefferson, Marshall, Choctaw, Atoka, Johnston, Pontotoc, Seminole, McClain, Lincoln, Noble, Pawnee, Osage, Nowata, Craig, Adair, Sequoyah, Haskell, Latimer, LeFlore, Woodward, Woods, Major, Alfalfa and Grant.

Those interesting in serving on the 770 Team from these counties will help continue to recruit other local volunteers to work on such issues as long-term care and utility costs and will help inform local residents about national issues affecting Americans age 50-plus.

AARP Oklahoma’s goal is to recruit at least 10 volunteers in each of Oklahoma’s 77 counties – hence the name, 770 Team. Team members will receive periodic e-mail updates and may also travel to town hall meetings, make telephone calls to elected officials or write letters to the editor.

The activities are a part of Divided We Fail, a national effort sponsored by AARP to encourage elected officials to work across party lines for affordable health care and life-long financial security for all Americans.

To join the AARP’s 770 Team, e-mail: aarpok@aarp.org.
