Jane L. Taylor, former executive director of the Ohio Association of Area Agencies on Aging (OAAAA), is the new state director for AARP Ohio.
Taylor, who began her position with AARP Ohio on August 13, brings to her new role more than 30 years of successful and increasingly responsible program and leadership experience in the field of aging. She developed the OAAAA from its inception to today's influential professional organization, and has had more than 25 years of direct involvement with the PASSPORT system of in-home and community-based services. Taylor has partnered with AARP Ohio in the past to develop and implement a multi-year campaign to increase long-term care options, and is among those responsible for recent successes that give older Ohioans more choices and control over their lives.
"Jane shows genuine passion for and true commitment to the field of aging," said AARP Ohio President Joanne Limbach. "We hold great expectations for future success with such an accomplished leader directing our efforts."
The OAAAA leader since 1989, Taylor had been responsible for advocacy, marketing, education, operations, fiscal management, board development, strategic planning, public relations and public policy initiatives. Prior to OAAAA, Taylor led the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging.
"With health and financial security issues on the national agenda and 2008 elections right around the corner, I'm excited to be involved in AARP's dynamic initiatives as the association works to shape public policy to meet its members' needs," Taylor said. "AARP is a champion for all generations and I am proud to work with AARP Ohio's diverse and talented volunteers as we strive to make life better for all Americans."
As AARP Ohio state director, Taylor directs a state office staff of 12 employees and represents 1.6 million members in Ohio. Taylor succeeds Kathy Tefft-Keller, who was promoted to director of planning and evaluation for AARP state operations.
