The AARP Magazine selected two New Yorkers as the winners of the 2009 Faces of 50+ Real People Model Search. After combing through more than 9,000 applicants from online submissions and entries gathered at the annual AARP The Magazine Road Show, AARP The Magazine has selected a total of nine winners and left it up to America to choose the final "Reader's Choice" winner. Two of the 10 winners chosen are from New York State!
Kayce Glasse, a 53-year-old actress and singer from New York City, and Paul Mockovak, also 53 years old and drama professor from Dunkirk, NY, were selected as two of the ten winners. They show off their 50+ head-to-toe makeovers in the magazine’s feature story on how to update your look.
What keeps Kayce Glasse young? She says exercise and keeping things simple keeps her young. Glasse says she is often mistaken for being as young as young as 38, and has taken care of myself over the years with sunscreen and hats, which she thinks should come back in fashion.
Mockovak considers himself a "work in progress" who continues to preserve his sense of wonder. His inspiration and confidence also come from his parents, who at ages 85 and 83, bike, walk, play tennis, and enjoy Elder Hostel.
