New Hampshire Creates the Good with Rx Snapshot

By: State: New Hampshire | Source: AARP.org

Health care reform may never be possible if we don't attack the epidemic of misuse of prescription drugs which often leads to wasteful spending and poor outcomes. According to an Institute of Medicine report, Americans spend more money on treating the complications of medicines than they do for the medicines themselves. These complications injure an estimated 1.5 million people a year in the United States, proving it is more important than ever that we take charge of our health by becoming our own prescription drug managers to help prevent medication errors that contribute to illness and sometimes death.

Using the tools AARP provides, you can effectively manage your medications in addition to helping your family, friends, neighbors and children do the same.

Create the Good with Rx Snapshot

To become a better medication manager, the first step is keeping a personal medication record to take with you when you visit your pharmacists, physicians, and other health care providers. As part of the Create the Good: Rx Snapshot tool kit, you can download a personal medication record to help you track and manage your medications more effectively.

Want to make a difference in your community? In just five minutes, you can help your friends, family, neighbors and children become better medication managers too! Help them download and fill out a personal medication record they can use to have more effective conversations with their pharmacists and physicians. Have more time to commit? Help your greater community by organizing a group medication review session with local pharmacists, using the form available as part of the Create the Good: Rx Snapshot tool kit. Whether you have 5 minutes or 5 hours to spend, you can Create the Good and make your community healthier.

For more information on how you can help others using Create the Good: Rx Snapshot, please visit AARP New Hampshire's Create the Good New Hampshire Online Community Page. Here you will find information relating to Create the Good: Rx Snapshot in addition to an abundance of additional resources to help you manage your meds.
