N.D. Legislative Committees Study Issues

This fall AARP North Dakota is participating in several studies underway by North Dakota Legislature interim committees, with an eye toward influencing legislation during the next legislative session in 2009.

Here are the committees and issues AARP is following:

  • Long-Term Care Committee - studying dementia-related services, announced surveys in basic care facilities, and state capacity of long-term care services.
  • Taxation Committee - property tax reform, allocation of oil and gas revenues, and developing a single income tax form.
  • Energy Development and Transmission Committee - impact of a comprehensive energy policy.
  • Transportation Committee - transportation infrastructure needs.
  • Budget Section - reports from Office of Management and Budget on status of the state budget.
  • Human Services Committee - study nursing education concerns, and reports on Medicaid issues.
  • Industry, Business and Labor Committee - regulation and licensing of pharmacists, and issues relating to wireless service providers.
