June Health Care Opinion Leader Forum

By: States: North Dakota  | Source: AARP.org  | Date Posted:

Thousands of people across North Dakota struggle every day with rising health care costs. Many are one accident or illness away from bankruptcy. Eleven percent of North Dakotans are uninsured…more people than the population of Bismarck. More than half of North Dakota’s farmers take on additional off-farm work that will provide them with health insurance. These are just symptoms of a growing health care problem that North Dakotans are facing.

AARP and North Dakota Farmers Union are co-hosting an opinion leader forum on health care in North Dakota. Come and hear a variety of viewpoints on the issue from health care leaders who will address challenges faced by rural residents, employers, low-income, Native Americans, and elders. Solving the health care crisis will not be easy. Learn what options and trade-offs might be necessary to solve the problem of affordable, quality health care.

You are invited to join us for this important discussion moderated by Dr. Mary Wakefield, director of the Center for Rural Health at the University of North Dakota.

The opinion leader forum will be held from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Thursday, June 5, at Bismarck’s Doublewood Inn. Space is limited so please register. Call toll-free 1-877-926-8300. Refreshments will be provided.

If you are unable to attend the forum, but would still like to become involved, read the Divided We Fail platform at http://www.aarp.org/issues/dividedwefail/about_issues/our_platform.html and then sign the pledge.
