AARP invites you to the Minnesota State Fair in St. Paul, from August 27 through September 7. Come learn about health and wellness—and to weigh in with your elected officials about health reform.
AARP in the Education Building
Visit AARP’s booth in the Education Building, where volunteers will be on hand to tell you about AARP’s Driver Safety Classes, our Health Action Now Campaign and our Create the Good community service activities. Connect directly to your elected officials and share your thoughts about the need for health reform.
Free Screenings in Carousel Park
On Saturday, September 5, AARP will be in Carousel Park (near the grandstand ramp) with the AARP/Walgreen’s Wellness Tour for a special day of events.
Join us for a free one-year memberships and get important health screenings—worth over $140 per person.
The free screenings—which include total cholesterol levels, blood pressure, bone density, glucose levels, waist circumference and body mass index—will help provide adults with a critical foundation for early disease detection and prevention. No appointment is necessary. Screenings are recommended for adults age 18 and older.
Results are instantly provided and consumers are encouraged to visit a doctor or health care provider to discuss them. Visitors also have access to free educational information on a variety of health and wellness issues that are available in both English and Spanish.
Free, one-year AARP memberships will be given to all adults who receive screenings. Participants under the age of 50 can pass on the free membership to an eligible adult, and existing members will receive a one-year extension on their current membership status.
AARP’s Roadshow Comes for Labor Day Weekend!
In addition, AARP The Magazine, the nation’s largest circulation magazine, will also be at the Minnesota State Fair with its Roadshow. Look for the teal tents at Dan Patch and Randall Avenues near the Gate 15 entrance. Activities include:
- Communications Pavilion: Let our experts show you how to use the latest technologies, like LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Skype, and showcase their advantages in keeping you connected with friends, children in college, and grandchildren.
- Health Screenings: Have a health professional administer a free wellness screening. Screenings may vary at each Road Show stop.
- Chair Massage: Relax and enjoy a free five- to ten-minute neck and shoulder massage.
Check out our current Road Show schedule for fair location and be sure to check back from time to time for updates on destinations and activities.
