Television Series Tackles Aging
By: State: Minnesota | Source: AARP.org
Twin Cities Public Television has teamed up with several nonprofit partners to produce a statewide television show about aging in Minnesota. The show tackles the issues we face related to aging in a way that’s both serious and fun.
AARP was instrumental in helping to support the pilot—and the series has featured AARP’s advocacy, volunteering and education work at the State Capitol and in the community.
For example, AARP Advocacy Chair Shirley Hunt Alexander of Edina is featured in the show entitled “Civic Engagement” for her work at the State Capitol, where she has been a strong voice on critical issues like health and long-term care with AARP.
AARP Volunteer Bob Geyen of Shakopee is a regular member of the Getting There discussion panel, where he discusses important issues like family caregiving, planning for retirement and long-term care financing.
"Getting There" is a new series on Twin Cities Public Television’s Minnesota Channel. It is aimed primarily at those 50 plus and provides a critical look at issues like health care, family caregiving, navigating the long-term care system and more. The series is running on Sundays on tpt's LIFE channel and statewide on the Minnesota Channel. Find out more about the series.
