The Time for Action on Health Care Is NOW
You Can Weigh in with State Lawmakers

Health care—how to pay for it, where to find it, and how to keep it—is a concern for thousands of Minnesotans of all ages. While most of us agree that the health care system is broken, it is rare to find agreement on how to move toward fixing it.
One of those rare opportunities is in front of us—and AARP is urging state lawmakers to take action and pass Senate File 3099 and House File 3391 into law.
This bipartisan proposal is the result of the work of two working panels—one appointed by the Governor and one by the legislature—that brought many Minnesota health care experts as well as consumers, businesses, and others to the table. The proposals that resulted from their recommendations can make our state a true leader in reforming today’s broken health care system.
Call your legislators through the AARP hotline at 1-800-480-4397 to urge them to pass SF 3099 and HF 3391—quality, affordable health care for Minnesotans NOW.
AARP stands behind this legislation because we believe it will reduce costs, improve access and give consumers good information. The legislation contains several provisions that AARP strongly supports:
* It expands health coverage under MinnesotaCare to ensure that more low-income individuals will receive the care they need;
* Makes health care more affordable and improves to coverage for long-term care workers, including nursing home workers;
* Gives doctors and clinics needed incentives to improve quality and increase effectiveness;
* Calls for better use of technology, including electronic health records, so that costs are reduced and better records are kept; and
* Provides consumers with solid information about costs and quality that will allow them to make comparisons to find the most appropriate provider and receive the best care to meet their needs.
We can be proud to live in a state that has been able to move past the gridlock and present a proposal that will positively impact the lives of Minnesotans of all ages.
Minnesota can lead the nation by passing meaningful health care reform that will serve as an example to the rest of the country.
