Knowledge is power. That’s why AARP Minnesota is committed to giving you access to the information and resource to help them make informed decision about the future of health care.
Now, AARP Minnesota is offering free, brief, weekly phone updates providing information and resources on health reform. This is an opportunity for AARP members to receive the latest developments on health reform in the comfort of their own homes.
“About 3,500 Minnesotans per week are currently receiving these updates,” said Michele Kimball, state director for AARP Minnesota. “These weekly phone updates are just one way AARP is working to educate our members, and provide additional resources to help members get the facts about this important and complex debate.”
Here’s how it works: Individuals who sign up to receive these updates will receive a phone call each week, with a short, recorded message highlighting recent health reform developments. Those who receive the call will also have an opportunity to request additional information by mail by simply pressing a number on their telephone key pad. In addition, members will learn about activities or events happening in the week ahead, or find out how to take action by contacting our members of Congress on a particular issue.
“This is an easy way to get involved, and participate in the process,” said Kimball. “Democracy only works when everyone has a voice and we want to ensure the voices of our members are heard.”
AARP Minnesota will continue to provide weekly updates throughout the health reform debate. Those registered to receive phone updates will then be given an opportunity to continue receiving updates on state legislative issues during Minnesota’s legislative session.
