Three-city Strategy Builds on Campaign Momentum

AARP Indiana is taking exciting advocacy opportunities to South Bend, Columbus and Evansville this year as part of the Divided We Fail initiative. And you can play a part!

Indiana’s May Primary Election falls rather late in the campaign calendar to have much influence on the outcome of the Democratic and Republican presidential primaries. But Hoosiers can still demand action and answers from candidates on the most pressing domestic issues facing our nation—health care and lifetime financial security.

Like you, AARP knows that common-sense solutions are needed, and everyone—individuals, businesses, and government—has a role and a responsibility in ensuring health and financial security for all.

AARP Indiana will focus public attention on those issues at a series of events in South Bend, Columbus, and Evansville. We’ll be joined by business, civic, and faith leaders as we discuss the issues, analyze candidates’ positions and ensure that candidates for state and federal offices hear your voice.

We’ll also provide nonpartisan issue and advocacy training that people can use behind the scenes or front and center in our target cities.

Play a part! Send an e-mail to Program Coordinator Sarah Waddle at swaddle@aarp.org and tell her you’re ready to walk the talk in South Bend, Columbus, or Evansville.

We’ll be visible in the rest of Indiana, too, at county fairs, health fairs and expos, and candidate events and forums. Just look for our red shirts and hats that say Divided We Fail. Then sign the Divided We Fail pledge (or take it now) and tell us your story about health care and financial security.
