Health care costs continue to skyrocket, right along side utility prices as retirement savings continue to fall. AARP is pressing for change both in Washington DC and right here in Illinois. We need to break the gridlock and work together to make the change happen that we all deserve on the issues that matter most. But we can’t do it alone, we need your help! Join the efforts to make a difference, become an AARP volunteer.
Volunteer Locally
We’re looking for volunteers to serve as key members of our District Impact Teams in their communities. These Teams are sprouting up in communities across Illinois—bringing together community members interested in serving as AARP volunteers. Over the next few months, we will be hosting several recruitment events to connect with people who share our passion to make things better. These recruitment events have been scheduled to take place in Chicago, Peoria, Springfield, Grayslake and Champaign in the coming months and will be hosted at additional locations throughout the state.
As a District Impact Team volunteer, you will be engaged in a variety of AARP activities—working on legislative advocacy, participating in community service and outreach initiatives, or helping with critical communications efforts. We understand that every individual brings different talents and skills to the table and there’s a role for everyone! Working alongside AARP staff members, you’ll ensure that your talents and passion are put to use.
Volunteering with AARP is not only an opportunity to stay active and involved; it is a chance to give back to your community. Studies have shown people who share their time and talents profit from improved personal health and social benefits. Get involved today and make a different in the lives of older adults across Illinois.
There are a wide variety of volunteer opportunities available. Contribute to your community and work for positive social change—join the AARP Illinois team. For more information on how to become a volunteer please contact AARP Illinois at 1-866-448-3613 or email at aarpil@aarp.org.
