The National Federation of Independent Business Iowa (NFIB Iowa) and its nearly 8,000 members from across the state have joined forces with the Iowa Divided We Fail coalition. They are the most recent addition to the growing list of team members to join Divided We Fail—a nationwide initiative to raise the issues of health care and long-term financial security.
NFIB Iowa joins a group of other businesses, labor groups and nonprofit organizations that make up the Divided We Fail team in Iowa. Through its nearly 20 statewide team members lead by AARP, Divided We Fail reaches more than 500,000 Iowans.
In addition to the Divided We Fail team members, Iowans have stepped up to the plate and lent their voice to the effort. To date, more than 12,000 pledge cards have been signed urging candidates to put partisan politics aside to address the need for health care and long-term financial security. Many more have offered to volunteer for this exciting effort throughout the state of Iowa.
In 2008, Divided We Fail Iowa will be engaging a variety of audiences around the state on the critical issues of health and financial security. Events will be held in Western Iowa on May 13 and 14 in the communities of Sioux City and Council Bluffs, North Central Iowa on June 17 and 18 in the communities of Mason City and Waterloo and various Eastern Iowa communities during the fall. Divided We Fail will also have a strong presence at the Iowa State Fair, field a team for RAGBRAI and promote an extensive voter education drive as Election Day nears.
