CAPS Professionals in Iowa

According a recent AARP poll, 84 percent of older Americans over 50 want to stay in their own home through retirement.  Still, only 16 percent have taken the steps necessary to update their homes for retirement. 

Now, with the Baby Boomer generation ready to retire, this statistic is becoming even more significant.  Creating livable homes for people as they age is critical to the sustainability of our communities. 

Because of this, AARP Iowa has helped to recruit and train Certified Aging-In-Place Specialists (CAPS).  CAPS professionals are trained in helping aging homeowners remodel their home and to help with deciding what repairs and improvements will help home owners continue to be able to stay in their home as long as possible.
