AARP is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2008 with a vibrant round of events in Georgia and around the nation, making this an especially good time to consider what it means to be an AARP member.

In celebration of AARP’s 50th anniversary, AARP Georgia is pleased to announce that AARP members can benefit from discounted tickets to select Braves games. AARP Night at the Braves is Friday, June 20, at Turner Field where the Braves will face Ichiro Suzuki and the Seattle Mariners; members can get tickets in the pavilion and upper box levels at half price.

AARP Night at the Braves will feature a special celebration for AARP members at 5 p.m. in the right field pavilion where exhibits and refreshments will be available. During this celebration, AARP board members will present checks to local Andrus Legacy award winners Tri Cities High School and Atlanta’s Alonzo A. Crim Open Campus High School.

Pre-game ceremonies will also include presentation of a lifetime AARP membership card to Atlanta Braves manager Bobby Cox. The national anthem will be performed by JAMIA, the talented child singer who performed at this year’s Grammy awards and who will also be performing at AARP Presents Songs of Soul and Inspiration concert on June 21 at Philips Arena.

AARP members and their families can also purchase discounted tickets in the pavilion and upper box levels for Grandparents Day at the Turner Field on Sunday, June 22.
