AARP's National Event and Expo Needs Volunteers

You heard it here first! Life@50+ -- AARP’s National Event and Expo comes to the Washington Convention Center, September 4-6, 2008, and we’re looking for outgoing, energetic local volunteers. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to meet new people and have a blast while providing critical support to more than 27,500 AARP members from across the country. Fill out an online application today!  The dealine for applications is June 20.

AARP is seeking 800 volunteers from DC, Maryland, and Virginia for a variety of duties including:

• Event Greeters who serve as “goodwill ambassadors,” helping attendees navigate the event;
• Theatre Volunteers who monitor waiting lines, check for badges, take tickets and usher guests to seats;
• Session Room Monitors who ensure that things run smoothly in various Feature,  Lifestyle and AARP University sessions;
• Exhibit Hall Stage Volunteers who help attendees and exhibitors locate booths and presentations; and
• Virtual Volunteers who will reach out to the online community by creating a Life@50+ social network. 

As a volunteer, you receive free admission to the event, a t-shirt, meal vouchers, and the chance to enjoy such Life@50+ highlights as:

• Celebrity speakers including Regis Philbin, Maya Angelou, Quincy Jones, Shirley McLaine, and Cal Ripken, Jr.;
• Hundreds of interesting lifestyle sessions;
• Interactive exhibits highlighting cutting-edge technologies;
• Travel and leisure ideas and opportunities;
• Free giveaways, and much more.

Volunteers have the option of working morning, afternoon, and/or evening shifts. Each shift requires standing or walking four hours at a time with limited breaks.
