Keelin S. of Aurora gets chronic ear infections. Repeated claims caused her father's small business to face exorbitant health insurance premiums. To rein in those costs, the family turned to the private market for Keelin's coverage. The family's insurance costs are now very high, and Keelin's mother cannot secure funding to start her business.
AARP Gathers Your Stories to Urge Action, Accountability
This is one of many stories we're hearing from Coloradans facing financial crises because of health care costs. AARP believes that all Americans should have the peace of mind that comes from knowing that we won't outlive our savings and that a health emergency won't undercut our financial security. With your help, we are starting a discussion with the nation's leaders and the presidential candidates to ensure that we all have the affordable, quality health care and lifetime financial security we need.
Called Divided We Fail, this nationwide initiative will let our country's leaders know that these issues are affecting people's lives every day and that we want action now. Recently AARP Colorado has taken part in fitness walks and political rallies. We conducted a state tour to listen to citizens discuss the challenges they face obtaining financial security and access to health care. We greeted fairgoers at a booth at the State Fair in Pueblo. We hope that you will come join us when we are out in your community. The momentum is building, and we need your help to sustain it.
