On behalf of over 690,000 AARP members in the state of Colorado over the age of 50, we are pleased to share our 2008 end of session report with you. In this report we show how Colorado legislators voted on the very important issue of funding services that keep seniors at home and independent, as in House Bill 1108.

In this session, thanks to a lot of hard work by AARP volunteers and partnering organizations, we were able to increase state funding for senior services by $3 million. As a result, Older Coloradans Act funding now totals $8 million annually, but that is still not nearly enough to meet current needs (estimated at $97M), especially with increasing fuel and food costs. AARP Colorado will continue to advocate for more adequate funding for senior services in Colorado. AARP also remains interested in needed reforms to fix Colorado’s continuing fiscal crisis which plays a significant role in funding services for seniors, the disabled, children and families.
