The AARP California State Office is asking all AARP members and the general public to sign the Divided We Fail pledge card. To encourage outreach, we are offering incentive rewards for pledge collection. The Divided We Fail initiative amplifies the voices of those who believe health care and lifetime financial security are the most pressing domestic issues facing our nation. One does not need to be an AARP member to sign the pledge card or to enter the draft. Many Californians are still unaware of the depth of the health care and financial security concerns that America faces. Because 2008 is an election year, we have a unique opportunity to reach out and educate the public in an effort to improve the lives of all Americans. You can make a difference.

Incentive Rewards
For every 25 signed Divided We Fail pledge cards mailed in at one time, an individual will be entered into a raffle drawing and receive an AARP gift of nominal value—an AARP key chain, water bottle, bag, or other AARP item. Drawings will be held in July 31, September 30, and November 19 of 2008. One name will be drawn during each of these months for a $50 Mastercard gift card and a special AARP gift of nominal value. To increase your chances in the raffle drawing, please mail in all the signed pledge cards immediately after you have collected them. All eligible entries that are not selected will carry over to the next drawing date. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. There is no limit to the number of entries per person. However, no duplicate pledge cards will be accepted (i.e., every pledge must be from a separate individual). Award recipients will be notified by phone and mail.

Incentive Program Rules
Drawings are subject to all applicable laws and regulations and are void where prohibited. The purpose of the announced prize drawings is to encourage people to sign the pledge and collect as many pledges as possible. Drawings will be held on July 31, Sept. 30, and Nov. 19. To be eligible for the July drawing, pledges must be received by July 30; to be eligible for the September drawing, pledges must be received by Sept. 29; and to be eligible for the November, drawing pledges must be received by Nov. 14. One entry per person for every 25 pledges submitted. Prizes will be awarded in random drawings from among all eligible entries received.

Additional rules are as follows:
• Anyone 18 years old and older is eligible to participate;
• Signed pledge cards must be mailed in with a completed “Submission Form”;
• “Submission Form” must include: your name, your telephone number and number of signed pledge cards you are submitting; and
• Pledge cards MUST be mailed to:

If the signed pledge cards submission does not comply with the above mentioned rules, the pledge cards will not qualify for this incentive program. For fairness to all participants, no exceptions will be made.
