AARP 50th Anniversary Hoopla
By: States: Arizona | Source: aarp.org
AARP was founded 50 years ago, by Ethel Percy Andrus, a retired teacher and principal from California. AARP's motto is the motto by which Andrus lived her life, "To serve, not to be served". As part of our 50th anniversary celebration, AARP Arizona has teamed up with basketball's WNBA 2007 champions, the Phoenix Mercury, for an amazing WNBA event at U.S. Airways Center on Grandparent's Day, September 7, 2008. All AARP members are invited to attend.
Schedule:
3 p.m. – First 100 AARP members to sign up are invited to attend AARP's 50th Anniversary VIP event with cake and all.
4 p.m. – Doors open to the public with a Wellness Extravaganza. Presentations and tables of information will focus on nutrition, brain health, exercise, and relaxation. We will also have entertainment and fun activities for children, including a performance by the Mercury's Hip Hop Squad.
6 p.m. – The exciting game between the Phoenix Mercury and the Houston Comets begins for all to enjoy. This will be the last game of the season, and AARP members will receive great seats in the AARP section (lower level) for an amazing price.
Tickets for the game are only $10 (regularly $29 with fee) for AARP members and guests.
