Arkansans Get Free Health Screenings and Memberships

By: State: Arkansas | Source: AARP.org

The AARP/Walgreens Wellness Tour visits Arkansas this fall bringing six free health screenings worth a total of more than $140 to those who are most in need of affordable healthcare. Free screenings will be conducted for cholesterol levels, blood pressure, bone density, blood glucose levels, waist circumference and body composition/body mass index. Certified medical technicians conduct the screenings on a customized, traveling education and health-screening bus. No appointments and no health insurance are needed. All adults 18 and over are welcomed.

AARP volunteers will be on hand to talk with tour bus visitors about what AARP is doing on the local level in chapters or in groups of AARP volunteers in the area. Free one-year AARP memberships will be made available (in the form of a brochure with a membership application) to participants who receive a health screening. Participants under the age of 50 can pass on the free membership to an eligible adult, and existing members will receive a one-year extension on their current membership status.

Early detection is the key to staying healthy. By combining the resources of AARP and Walgreens, we are able to provide free health screenings.
