AARP Arkansas's 2009 Weekly Legislative Update Online
By: State: Arkansas | Source: AARP.org
When state lawmakers hear from voters in their district, they pay attention. They want to know their constituents' opinions about the legislative proposals on which they vote. That's why AARP Arkansas sends weekly updates on the legislative proposals for which it is advocating to its members and the public.
Know AARP's issues, when your lawmaker is likely to vote on the issue, and know AARP's position on the issue by reading the AARP Arkansas Weekly Legislative Update (AAWL). The Update is a print, web and electronic newsletter which includes contact information for state lawmakers at the State Capitol as well as in their home districts. Occasionally, action items are included such as, "Call your legislator today!" In the same newsletter, updated information appears about the proposal which callers may want to discuss with their legislators.
Your work in the lawmakers' district will enhance the work of AARP's A-Team volunteers who talk to lawmakers about our issues in person at the State Capitol in committee meetings and the chambers of the House and Senate.
Find out what they're talking about in the latest issue of the Weekly Legislative Update. The latest editions are uploaded to our web site each weekend during the Session.
Another article entitled "AARP Arkansas's 2009 Legislative Priorities summarizes each of the five proposals on which AARP is working during this Session.
Visit the official legislative website at arkleg.state.us.ar for contact information, bill copies, committee assignments, bill status, etc.
