Janet Hill: Biography

Janet Hill, Head of Planning & Saving for Retirement Policy – UK’s Department for Work & Pensions.

As head of the Planning & Saving for Retirement Division, Janet leads the development of the UK Government’s Informed Choice (IC) strategy.

Janet is also a member of the high level Financial Services Authority Financial Capability Advisory Group and the Citizen Advice Bureaux’s Financial Advice Project Steering Group, both of which draw on expertise from across government, the financial services industry and the voluntary sector. Janet’s role is to advise on the development of the UK Government’s private pension strategy. Janet is also the disability diversity champion for Pensions.

Janet has worked for the Department for Work and Pensions (previously called the Department for Social Security) since 1980. She has been responsible for a number of programmes relating to pensions policy, including leading the development of the private pension chapter of the Government Green Paper on Pension Reform in 2002 , the Pension Reform Action Plan White Paper and the Informed Choice White Paper in February 2004 . She has also led policy development in areas including the New Deal for Disability and Housing Benefit. Janet is married and enjoys walking, horseriding and gardening.
