Britt Mari Hellner
Dr. Hellner is Senior Researcher at the National Board of Health and Welfare's Unit for Elder Care in Sweden. The National Board of Health and Welfare is the Swedish national expert and supervisory authority for social services, public health, infectious disease prevention and health care services. The Board provides knowledge and information to the Ministry of Health and Social affairs. Dr. Hellner has held her position since 1993, and is primarily responsible for monitoring and evaluating health and elder care at the national level. In that capacity, she manages national studies and projects on palliative care, dementia care, preventive home visits and home care. Currently, her main task is managing a large study on home care, with a target group of people 65 years over who have vast and complex needs provided for at home. Dr. Hellner has an M.Sc. in psychology and Ph.D. in geriatric medicine. She began her career in 1970 as psychologist in a psychiatric clinic. Since 1980, the health and well being of older people has been her main interest and area of research. |
