New York residents age 50-64 overwhelmingly agree that state policymakers should work to ensure that all New Yorkers have access to quality, affordable, and adequate health care coverage, according to an October 2007 telephone survey.

  • 44% are extremely or very concerned about being able to maintain their current level of health care coverage.
  • 25% find it extremely or very difficult to pay their out-of-pocket medical expenses.
  • 37% are extremely or very concerned about affording prescription drugs over the next 2 years, and 24% are somewhat concerned.
  • 67% would be more likely to vote for a candidate for public office if he or she supports giving all residents access to quality, affordable, and adequate health care coverage.

This survey of 802 New York residents age 50-64 was conducted by Woelfel Research between October 10 and 20, 2007. For more information, contact Joanne Binette at 202-434-6303. (27 pages)
