The State of Health Care: A Survey of New York Residents Age 50-64

New York residents age 50-64 overwhelmingly agree that state policymakers should work to ensure that all New Yorkers have access to quality, affordable, and adequate health care coverage, according to an October 2007 telephone survey.

• 44% are extremely or very concerned about being able to maintain their current level of health care coverage.
• 25% find it extremely or very difficult to pay their out-of-pocket medical expenses.
• 37% are extremely or very concerned about affording prescription drugs over the next 2 years, and 24% are somewhat concerned.
• 67% would be more likely to vote for a candidate for public office if he or she supports giving all residents access to quality, affordable, and adequate health care coverage.
