Hawai’i residents age 50 and older are concerned about the rising cost of prescription drugs, according to this telephone survey conducted in December 2007 and January 2008. The findings show that those age 50-64 are particularly concerned, because they have experienced a disproportionate increase in out-of-pocket costs over the past 5 years. (19 pages)

People aged 50 and older are generally satisfied with their access to brand name and generic prescription drugs and are willing to talk to their physicians and other health professionals about their prescription drug options, according to this October 2007 AARP telephone survey. Individuals aged 65 and older who have Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage report high levels of satisfaction with the plan and their premiums, with many stating that prescription drugs are more affordable now than they were prior to their enrollment. With 43 percent of age 18+ Hispanics in New Jersey reporting incomes under $20,000 and 46 percent paying full price for Rx drugs, this May 2007 telephone survey finds that 50 percent of those surveyed who bought a prescription drug in the last year and 66 percent of those without prescription drug coverage are having problems paying for medications.(19 pages)
