Robin Talbert Appointed Executive Director of the AARP Foundation

The AARP Foundation Board announced that is has appointed Robin Talbert as the Executive Director of the AARP Foundation effective immediately. "Robin has a broad range of skills and talents as well as an enormous passion for the work that we do at AARP and the Foundation," said Jennie Chin Hansen, Chair of the AARP Foundation Board.
Talbert has held increasingly important positions at AARP including her recent tenure as the interim Director for the Foundation. She is a former legal aid attorney and has worked for years as a volunteer mediator with the DC Superior Court. She is also involved with philanthropic groups such as the Independent Sector, the Association Foundation Group and Grantmakers in Aging.
The AARP Foundation, AARP’s charitable affiliate, annually helps over two million people find jobs, get tax assistance, manage their money, avoid falling victim to fraud and more. It also protects the legal rights of people over 50 by representing them in significant cases and by writing legal briefs that help the courts make sound decisions. The AARP Foundation raises money to support its activities through grants and donations from individuals, government, corporations, foundations, and AARP. "I am thrilled to accept this appointment and look forward to the challenges ahead. We have an opportunity to make life better for many people and to preserve their dignity as they age" says Talbert.
The AARP Foundation was most recently at the forefront of AARP’s response to the Gulf Coast hurricanes. Working with AARP’s state offices, the AARP Foundation quickly raised funds, identified local charities and got help to the older victims who were left most vulnerable and at-risk. Through donations from AARP members, volunteers and corporations, the Foundation has made grants to over 30 agencies in the Gulf.
The AARP Foundation is AARP’s affiliated charity. Foundation programs provide security, protection and empowerment for people 50 and older at social and economic risk including job training and placement, complimentary tax preparation for low- and moderate-income individuals, legal support protecting older Americans in critical health, long-term care, consumer and employment situations and additional programs provide information, education and services to ensure that people over 50 lead lives of independence, dignity and purpose.
