Alison M. Shelton

Alison Shelton, a senior strategic policy advisor with the AARP Public Policy Institute Economics Team, has written and spoken on Social Security and retirement security for over a decade. She has authored or co-authored numerous papers on various aspects of the Social Security program and proposals for reform, and she has modeled the impact of various proposals. She previously worked at the Congressional Research Service, where she served as an expert on Social Security, and in the domestic and international divisions of the U.S. Treasury Department, where among other positions she served as Special Assistant to the Under Secretary for Domestic Finance. She is a graduate of Smith College and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.Areas of expertise
