An examination by health care policy and retiree benefits expert Peter D. Fox of relationships between managed care plans and employers or other retiree benefit sponsors (such as Taft-Hartley trusts). The findings are based on interviews conducted with selected representatives of large corporations, health plans, health benefit consultants, and others. Among the areas investigated are the circumstances under which employers decide to offer Medicare HMO coverage to their retirees; differences in coverage for active and retired workers; and barriers that may affect these relationships, including regulatory impediments.
