AARP New York Nursing Home Consumer Information Survey

Research Report

February 2002

AARP MEMBER OPINION RESEARCH: Members of AARP in New York are politically engaged people who are concerned about the quality of nursing homes and want more information so they can make informed choices. This survey examines their opinions about
  • the priority that AARP should place on work to improve the quality of nursing homes in the state
  • the importance of New York providing timely information about individual nursing homes that might help the consumer judge the quality of a facility
  • the likelihood of voting for a candidate who supports improving the availability and quality of information on nursing homes
Between December 7 and 14, 2001, 806 randomly selected AARP members in New York were interviewed by telephone. The report was prepared by Susan L. Silberman, Ph.D. of AARP Knowledge Management. (11 pages)
