The Employee Point of View: Opinions of Workers in North Carolina on Election Issues, Retirement, Caregiving, and Job Benefits  / Research Report
March 2008— The majority of working people in North Carolina believe that the country is on the wrong track, according to an October-November 2007 telephone survey of 800 workers age 30 and older. Over 75% said that financial security and health care issues are important to them in deciding whom to vote for in the 2008 election. (33 pages)

Election Issues Surveys: View from the Early States  / Research Report
January 2008— The degree of attentiveness to the campaigns, the solidity of candidate preference, the issues considered important, and the rating of candidates on health care and financial security issues are examined in these telephone surveys of AARP members in Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire and South Carolina. These surveys are not designed to determine which candidates AARP members prefer, but rather how well the candidates are presenting issues important to all Americans.

April 2007— For this April 2007 random telephone survey by AARP and the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, 700 African American likely voters in South Carolina were asked to identify the domestic concerns and crucial issues they want presidential candidates to address in campaigning for the state’s January 2008 primary. AARP - Iowa Divided We Fail Survey  / Research Report
March 2007— A majority of Iowa registered Democrats and Republicans strongly support health care availability for all Americans, an affordable long-term care system, and strengthened laws against age discrimination, according to this March 2007 telephone survey of 400 Iowa residents registered to vote as either Republicans or Democrats.

AARP New York Election Survey: Prescription Drugs -- Executive Summary for State Senate District 7  / Research Report

AARP Election Watch 2006: Pulse of a Generation  / Research Report
November 2006— Of 1,500 age 42+ likely voters surveyed between October 23rd and 29th, 2006 by AARP, 83 percent are seriously considering the rising budget deficit in their voting decisions, and 76 percent are likely to vote for candidates supporting increased domestic spending while 47 percent favor and 40 percent oppose creating a national sales tax to fund healthcare for children and the uninsured.

New AARP Survey Shows Public Strongly Opposes Social Security Private Accounts  / News Release
October 2006— A new AARP survey finds that boomer+ voters (age 42 and older) are strongly opposed to using Social Security taxes to fund private accounts. More than seven in ten of those polled (72 percent) said they oppose private accounts. Less than one in six (16 percent) of those polled said they support such accounts.
