State Laws on Volunteer Driver Liability
Fact Sheet
March 2007
Volunteer drivers are a vital resource for many programs that provide transportation services to older people and people with disabilities. Yet liability issues associated with the use of volunteer drivers can present obstacles to the provision of transportation services. The National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) presents an AARP-funded report and an online U.S. map that, by selecting a particular state, presents the laws and practices related to volunteer driver liability in that jurisdiction.
