Transportation

Community Transportation Survey

Research Report

February 1998

Whether people can maintain independence in their communities as they age depends in part on their access to the goods, services and social contacts necessary to a good quality of life. This access relies largely on whether they have transportation choices that serve their personal mobility needs and preferences. This 28-page report presents the results and analysis of a survey of 710 respondents age 75 and older about their community travel behavior and preferences. It also explores how older persons perceive the impact of some community design features on their mobility.
