Castle Garden
Located within The Battery, and now known as Castle Clinton National Monument, Castle Garden was the first official immigration center in America. By entering the first and last name of your ancestor and a range of dates for arrival, the English-only website will return the ship name and date of arrival. You can conduct an advanced search for a fee.

Ellis Island Records
Available only in English, the Ellis Island Records can provide detailed information on immigrants, including their age and port of origin. Registered users (registration is free) can view immigration records, ships' manifests, and photos of the ships.

Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild (ISTG)
There are currently passenger manifests available for 5,000 ships from as early as the 1600s. You can search by date, port of departure, port of arrival, ship's name, or captain's name. This English-only site also offers an area called the Compass, which provides links to additional resources for genealogical research.

Discussion Forum for Hispanic Genealogical Researchers
Join this bilingual discussion board to post requests for information on your ancestors. Perhaps you can shed light on someone else's research, too.
