Higher education in the United States is big business—a $400 billion dollar a year business.  A four-year education at some of the nation’s top-tier universities can cost a student as much as $250,00—a sum that prompts the question: Is it worth it? Sociologist Andrew Hacker and New York Times writer Claudia Dreifus tackle that question in their book Higher  Education?
