More than 500 AARP members came to Faneuil Hall in Boston October 20, to hear from the candidates for governor – Charlie Baker (R), Tim Cahill (I), Deval Patrick (D), and Jill Stein (GRP) – share their vision on aging for the commonwealth.  

WBZ Anchor Jack Williams moderated the discussion which focused on key issues for older persons and their families, including health and prescription drug affordability, economic security for older workers, home and community based care, housing and transportation.  
 
If you didn’t make it to the forum, watch our recorded webcast.  Following a rousing welcome from AARP State President Linda Fitzgerald, you’ll see opening statements from the candidates, rounds of “rapid fire” questions from the moderator on the key issues, questions from AARP members in the audience, and closing statements; the program runs about 90 minutes.  
 
As we elect the first governor of a new decade – and with a record number of competitive seats up at the State House – much is at stake for older persons and their families.  And, we have the power to make a real difference at the polls; AARP predicts that this year, two out of every three voters will be age 45 and over.
