2003 AARP Alabama Member Opinion Survey

AARP Member Opinion Research

Financial security, prescription drugs, and staying in their own homes as they age are among the top concerns of AARP members in Alabama.

  • Alabama members are extremely concerned about their pension benefits or retirement savings being safe and secure, and about having access to affordable prescription drugs, and consider it important to be able to receive long-term care (LTC) services at home.
  • Their top legislative priorities are access to affordable prescription drugs; the availability, cost and quality of health care, and ensuring the availability of a broad range of LTC services that help persons stay in their own home.
  • Members believe AARP should make available a broad range of LTC services to help people stay in their own homes, and support increasing funding for services that would accomplish this, even if it meant reducing funds for nursing homes.

The mail survey of Alabama members was conducted from April through May 2003. The report was written by David Cicero of AARP Knowledge Management. For questions about the report, please, contact Rachelle Cummins of Knowledge Management at 202/434-6297. (36 pages)
