AARP Alaska Member Survey: Concerns, Interests, and Legislative Priorities

AARP Member Opinion Research

A snapshot of the concerns, interests, information preferences, and legislative priorities of AARP members in Alaska. Members were also asked about experience with and interest in continuing education and about health issues.

The top concern for Alaska members, regardless of age, is the safety and security of their pensions and retirement savings. Other top concerns include meeting daily expenses, staying physically fit and maintaining a healthy diet, and staying in their own homes as they get older. Members, regardless of age, view health care issues such as cost, quality and availability as their top legislative priority.

AARP's survey of its members in Alaska was conducted from September through November 2001. Of the 2,000 members who were sent questionnaires, 914 responded. The report was prepared by Katherine Bridges of AARP Knowledge Management. (39 pages)
