Author Hedrick Smith talks about his latest book, Who Stole the American Dream?: an examination of the ongoing legislative gridlock in Washington, D.C., and how it has negatively affected all Americans, most notably the middle class. Hedrick, who won a Pulitzer Prize while at the New York Times for the Pentagon Papers series in 1971, and another while covering Eastern Europe and Russia for the Times in 1974, meticulously reports the decisions — made by leaders on both sides of the political aisle — that have eroded the old notion of the American Dream over the past few decades.
