When a devastating tornado ripped through the small town of Greensburg, Kan., in May 2007, homes and businesses were destroyed, lives were lost and hearts were broken.
But in their darkest hours, the brave residents of this tiny Midwest town were resilient. Nearly 900 people decided to stay and rebuild with the resolve to make it better than ever through the use of innovative green technologies. By using recycled materials, renewable power sources such as wind and solar energy plus various other energy-saving strategies, the community crawled out of the ashes and is once again prospering in what has become a portrait of American resilience and renewal.
My Generation looks at the amazing work being done in Greensburg and meets the inspiring characters who’ve helped to make it a model for towns everywhere.
