You've Earned a Say

For the past year, Washington D.C. has been discussing changes to Medicare and Social Security behind closed doors as part of a backroom budget deal. And throughout that debate, we heard from millions of AARP members who said they’re tired of D.C. playing politics with the benefits they’ve earned.

That’s why we’re launching You’ve Earned a Say – a national conversation to ensure that Americans have a say in the future of Social Security and Medicare.

We’re calling it You’ve Earned a Say because Americans have earned their benefits by paying into Social Security and Medicare for years and they deserve to know what the politicians are talking about.

This year, we’ll be sponsoring town halls, community conversations, webcasts, and other events – all with the goal of giving Americans a chance to both hear about the proposals and state their views, and offer their own ideas about how to keep Social Security and Medicare strong for the long-term.

Please join us at one of our upcoming You’ve Earned a Say public events in your community. We’ll be in Tacoma on April 25, Seattle on May 9, Spokane on June 7 and Olympia on June 26. All events are free, but pre-registration is required. Look below for locations and times, along with registration links. You can also register by calling AARP toll-free at 1-877-926-8300.

Check back on our website soon for more information about “You’ve Earned a Say” and opportunities to be part of the conversation.
