Hosted by Emmy Award-winning journalist Jane Pauley, Your Life Calling traveled far and wide — from L.A.’s skid row to the hills of Tuscany — to feature inspirational stories that resonate with viewers of all ages.
These individuals, motivated by a quest for personal fulfillment, economic need or a desire to give back, are showing us that 50 is a starting point, not a finish line.
The second season featured a diverse array of “re-inventors:”
Catherine Silverman, a stay-at-home mom who launched a career as a successful home stager.
Barbara O’Grady, a government worker who answered the call of the wild by becoming a tour guide in Yellowstone.
Mary Reed, a Boston woman who started an education foundation to give low-income Massachusetts youngsters a better shot at succeeding in life.
Libba and Gifford Pinchot, a husband and wife team who left their careers as business consultants to create a “green” graduate school outside of Seattle.
Richard Rittmaster, a 49-year-old who signed up to become an Army chaplain.
Charlie Thornton, a renowned structural engineer who built an organization to mentor and support high school students as they pursue careers in architecture and engineering.
Bill and Patty Sutherland, a Texas couple who traded the plains of Texas for the hills of Tuscany and started a cooking school that exhibits local Tuscan culinary traditions.
Orlando Ward, a Los Angeles man who pulled himself out of addiction and homelessness to become an executive with a nationwide nonprofit organization.
Your Life Calling is a wake-up call reminding us that at this stage of life, we have more to come, more to do, more opportunities,” Pauley says. “Your life is calling you. Will you answer the call?”
