First African American female television news reporter Belva Davis

In her nearly five decades as a TV reporter and news anchor, Belva Davis has become known as "the Walter Cronkite of the Bay Area."

Davis has won eight local Emmys and numerous broadcast awards. Davis also has the distinction of being the first black female TV reporter in the western United States.

But as JoAnn Mar reports, success for Belva Davis did not come easy.
