I would eat in Italy, pray in Costa Rica's rainforest and love in Bora Bora.

Hello Britishlady. I am also British and wonder why I did not see your post before now! I am also British and have lived here in the States for nearly 18 years.
I loved the book and the film "Eat, Pray, Love" although I might have cast Tilda Swinton or Patricia Clarkson in the title role. Julia Roberts is just too perfectly gorgeous!
I would eat in Italy, and pray and love everywhere!

Thanks for your post. Your love for the Greek Isles is obvious. The description of your visit delicious. I have not been there yet, but it is where I want to go most. I hope you get back there again!

Yes, I agree - the Greek Islands!! I just came back from there a couple of months ago. The food is wonderful, the beauty is captivating, and the people are soooo friendly!! I am already ready to go back!!

To eat, and pray and love, I would go to one place only in this world- the Greek Islands. A most beauteous place in this world, with the aqua waters, many beaches, friendly people and excellent food. Had my first lamb and first goat (home raised) a wealth of seafood (you can buy it off a truck in the town! fresh caught that morning!) as well as home grown vegetables, wonderful globes of tomatoes, aubergines, zuchinni, and feta made locally - and home pressed olive oil (that our friends gifted us with upon leaving, a 2 ltr. water bottle with the BEST ever olive oil I have ever eked out and enjoyed...) on our trip to Skopelos. The folks we met there were so friendly and accomodating, great places to stay, a great beach, a great taverna up the road that had the most wonderful food - wonderful seafood and so much more. Athens, don't bother with other than seeing the antiquities, you'll have to fly in there but the city isn't that nice- you have to see the temples for sure, but catch the ferry first opportunity. Go to the islands for people that really know the meaning of life- good food, good friends, religion and nature. They take their life seriously there- it is hard- but so much welcome and insightful and wonderful! Seriously! We saw a REAL Greek wedding there, and got to know our hosts very well, and we yearn for a trip back there always. No it's not a Mamma Mia moment, this was before the movie and this is bigger than that. Beautiful place, a slow pace on the islands - everything shuts down from noon til 3- time to rest and take it easy- every island has wonderful cafes, quaint and awesome accomodations, transportation is available for rental or bus...there is so much there I just cannot give the words to it all. The most peaceful, delightful, delicious place in my opinion (other than Italy!) that I would be so honored, grateful and happy to go back to once again.

I think the Singles Travel Company will also match you with a room mate if they can.
