Mom (86 YRs.) is currently in assisted living in DE after surviving a massive stroke 2 yrs ago. She receives help with all ADL 's there. She is totally aphasic and only babbles therefore it is extremely difficult to get any answers. I am her POA and will be filing her Medicaid application when her money runs out in a few months. She had lived independently previous to the stroke. I am not able to find any documentation to support where she spent her money while living independently. I am concerned about the 5 yr. look back in the Medicaid application. I can provide support for all expenses since I became responsible her finances 2 years ago but not before that. Will that impact her application? If she is denied Medicaid can the assisted living facility evict her? What will be her options? This assisted living facility accepts Medicaid waviers as partial payment for fees. Would contacting an elder law attorney be useful?
