My Mother is in hospital level care in New Zealand, mainly because of mechanics- osteoperosis, arthritis, scoliosis, etc. Her engine is still good, but she requires at two caregivers.
Her first grandchild is now 6 months old and we want to explore care options for her coming for an extended stay to the US. She can come for 3 months on a tourist visa and I want to find out more about what the best options are for care.
I have a greencard and my wife is a US citizen.
- Where would I start to look at residentail care in New York city, or nearby? We are upper west side near 125th and Riverside.
- What sort of costs would I be looking at?
- Would it be better/ cheaper to hire and apartment and a caregiver? (our apartment is too small). If so, what agencies for caregiving would you suggest?
- Are there any coverages or benefits from the government? Where would I seek advice, information and assistence?
Any suggestions, ideas and information would be most appreciated.
