You hang in there. From somebody with personal experience. The going can get mighty rough but I don't regret the time and energy that I gave my husband. Toward the end the goling got pretty rough. I, myself became ill, and that's one thing that you have to do as a caregiver, and that is to take care of yourself. Take the opportunity when presented to go out and enjoy things. Don't feel guilty. I miss my husband so much but I also know that life goes on, like the old saying, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again. No life isn't easy, but you have to count your blessings. We were married for 47 years. Never, never take life for granted. If there is one thing that I have learned and that is, take time to smell the roses.
