In Response to RE: A Gift to Create for Next December by BrendanBrat
Hi Eileen: Looks like you've been busy! I have't popped up here in quite a while. Spent most of July and August just having family time after a busy spring. One of the biggest reasons was because airfare was so high. To save on expense, I told my cliets who wanted interviews, that it would be better to wait until the fall if they weren't in a rush. I did get to interview someone who was 100 and lives quick drive north of where I live. He's the oldest client I've had so far.
So now fall is upon us, travel costs less and I'm heading to Northern Calfornia and then to Texas for interviews. One family has requested in-depth interviews of the oldest members which should be interesting since they have had adventurous lives. The visit to Texas will be for a client whose Mother I interviewed last year and they are having a party for her 84th birthday. Last holiday season, he gave DVDs of the first interview. This year, he'll give DVDs of interviews from this family reunion where members of the family will share stories about her and the impact she has made on their lives.
So those are two ideas that may inspire you to create something similar for this upcoming holiday season. No time like the present to start. Bring out that video camera or tape recorder or pen and paper and start collecting some stories. You can start with yourself!
