Hi Nita: I've got a few family treasures but not as many as you do. However, recently my nephew turned up some old large negatives and my son who is a photographer, got a scanner that is equipped to scan them. The pictures are wonderful!! They were taken by my grandfather and some are from the first decade of the 1900s. There's one with a 1909 calendar on the wall of when my grandfather was in high school. We showed a good number of them to my mother who was born in 1918 and I recorded her comments which I will use to create a slideshow for my family.
What I really love is the fact that my son is processing the photos his great grandfather took when he was at a younger age than my son is now. My grandfather died when my son was quite small but this project has brought them together in a special way.
That is a real treasure Bridget. And how delightful for your son! Wish I had something that would scan my negatives---
I just think it all so neat, and that enough families care to preserve, protect, and pass on to others.
